Milan Design (Eco) System is a research project, devised and funded by the Salone del Mobile.Milano, with scientific oversight by the Department of Design – Politecnico di Milano. The challenge has been to share a first tool for the systematic analysis of a globally unique event: the Milan Design Week, of which the Salone is an international catalyst and an accelerator of business and project culture, along with the programme of events that has been transforming the city into a global stage in April for many years. This edition of the Report is a first step towards establishing a permanent Observatory. The mission, to be built on over the years, is to provide an increasingly solid base of data and interpretations to support the design of future strategies that we can be certain take into account crucial challenges, from sustainability to inclusion, to a legacy capable of going beyond the economic impact on the territory.
