FLOS Lights Up Euroluce 2025 with Bold Designs

FLOS Highlights Sculptural Innovation and Technology at Euroluce

At Euroluce in Milan, I had the opportunity to visit the FLOS booth and speak with Grace Ehlers, U.S. Director of Marketing. Though FLOS is best known for its decorative lighting, what I encountered was an impressive convergence of design elegance and technical ingenuity that blurs the lines between decorative and architectural lighting.

Linked Like Chandeliers

We began with a stunning collection called Linked—a series of luminaires connected through a pin system to form chandelier-style compositions. Designed by Michael Anastassiades, each module links seamlessly, creating a suspended sculpture of light. “Michael’s designs are universal and elegant,” Grace told me. “Each piece can be installed individually or as part of a larger constellation.”

A highlight of this design is its nostalgic glow, reminiscent of old neon, though the internals are thoroughly modern. The glass components are mouth-blown and paired with aluminum fittings that discreetly hide the LEDs. The driver is remote-mounted, maintaining the clean, minimalist aesthetic.

Crossing Over: From Architectural to Decorative

One fixture incorporated Uplight and Downlight technology from FLOS’s architectural line, adapted into the decorative collection. “We’re blending our architectural know-how into our decorative portfolio,” said Grace. “This lets designers mix and match while preserving technical performance.”

While admiring the uplighting, I asked about cleaning challenges, given its intricate surfaces. Grace chuckled, noting, “These pieces start at around $7,000, so we assume someone will be there to clean them.”

Jam Session and Super Wire: Where Form Meets Function

Another standout piece was Jam Session, a modular lamp system made from polished aluminum with a concrete base. Each module can be configured at different heights, echoing the improvisational feel of a jazz performance. “That’s the idea,” Grace said. “You can riff with it—choose different heads, create your own rhythm.”

We then moved to Super Wire, an innovative line that takes LED strands, coats them in silicone, and then dips them in glass—essentially creating a brand-new kind of light bulb. “Each strand can be individually replaced,” Grace explained. “Everything—from the LED strand to the glass panel—is designed for full maintenance and modularity.”

It’s more than just tech for tech’s sake. The spaghetti-thin wires and transparent design make these fixtures look like glowing art sculptures. “We introduced the first elements last year,” said Grace. “Now we’re showing the full line.”

Glowing Track and Sustainable Design

Following our discussion of decorative collections, the conversation shifted toward a fixture inspired by utilitarian materials. Tyvek—the durable, lightweight material commonly used in mailing envelopes—was reimagined into a luminous, modular form. The design is held together by magnetized pins, while LED cross-lights are hidden behind its pliable panels. As Grace explained, “It’s shipped flat, installed easily at home, and can be rearranged as often as desired.” Through this approach, adaptability and sustainability are emphasized, making the piece not only functional but also environmentally conscious.

Design for the Future

Throughout the booth, a forward-thinking design philosophy could be felt. Rather than traditional notions of obsolescence, a new interpretation had been embraced—one in which longevity and modularity were prioritized. Products were intentionally crafted to be maintained, upgraded, or reconfigured, instead of discarded. As Grace described it, “We’re trying to create lighting that endures—both in quality and in how it interacts with people’s lives.” With this mindset, FLOS is positioning itself at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, and emotional longevity.
