Renowned Futurist to Deliver Keynote at IALD Enlighten Europe 2024

PROFESSIONALS at IALD Enlighten Europe 2024 in London will attend a keynote surveying the future of lighting design and the role of artificial intelligence within it.

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) has announced that Dr. Marco Bevolo, a leading researcher and Adjunct Professor of Design Futures at the World University of Design, India, will deliver the keynote address at IALD Enlighten Europe 2024.

In his keynote address, “The Future of Lighting Design Beyond Lighting Design,” Dr. Bevolo will explore emerging industry trends and provide a vision framework for urban futures and lighting innovation. The address will cover a trend exploration and a reflection on the role of artificial intelligence in generating design futures.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Bevolo as our keynote speaker at EE24,” said Christopher Knowlton, IALD Chief Executive Officer. “His expertise in foresight and strategic design will provide invaluable insights into the future of lighting design and its impact on urban futures.”

With a career spanning over two decades in urban futures and lighting innovation, Dr. Bevolo is an accomplished author and consultant in foresight and strategic design. He has been Director of Strategic Design at Philips Design and Research Principal of Urban Futures for Philips Lighting (now Signify). He has also contributed to lighting design-related events by LUCI, PLDC, UNAM, and the University of Delaware.

Using specific input shared by the IALD to interrogate proprietary AI technology developed by Shaping Tomorrow, Dr. Bevolo prepared the presentation in scientific collaboration with that organization’s Director of Research, Dennis Draeger, MSc.

IALD Enlighten Europe 2024 runs from 21 – 22 June 2024 in London, United Kingdom. The keynote address by Dr. Bevolo will take place on the first day of the conference.
